October 8 – Heritage Day at McArthur-Burney Falls State Park

Heritage Day is scheduled for October 8th this year.  Please check with McArthur-Burney Falls State Park for further details.Historical crafts come alive during Heritage Day 2020 at McArthur-Burney Falls State Park on Sunday, October 10 from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Youngsters’ eyes are opened to the Pioneer (circa 1870’s) lifestyle, an era before internet and smart phones.    For the mature crowd, it’s an opportunity to remember stories told by ancestors and historians.  For all, it is a hands-on experience with teachers dressed in period costumes.Among the items participants can make are candles, doll-making using native materials, branding cedar rounds and the…

October 31 – Museum Closing

October 15 – Harvest Dinner

The museum hosts an October Harvest Dinner to honor seniors in the community.  The dinner starts at 1:00 pm and everybody is welcome.

September 16 – Pioneer Day

The museum's annual Pioneer Day highlights the life and customs of people from the mid to late 1800s.  Some of the demonstrations and activities we have had are Dutch Oven cooking, Civil War reenactors, antique wagons, horse drawn wagon rides, quilting displays, old time music and blacksmith demonstrations.  Food and drinks are also available for purchase.  The schedule changes every year so join us in September for a fun day at the museum.Starts at 10:00 am and runs until 3:00 pm.

September 3 – Intermountain Fair Parade

The museum will again have an entry in the Intermountain Fair Parade.  Contact the museum if you would like to help construct the float and then come out on Sunday to enjoy the parade.

September 1 – Golden Anniversary Dinner

The Golden Anniversary dinner is held each year during the Intermountain Fair in McArthur, CA.  This dinner is put on by the museum to honor those couples in the Intermountain area who have been married at least 50 years.  The public is welcome to attend.

August 13 – Ice Cream Social

Our Ice Cream Social is our way of thanking the community for their continued support.  There is no charge for the ice cream and toppings although donations are welcome and very much appreciated.  We will try to provide some live entertainment so come to the Round Barn at the museum and enjoy the ice cream.  The event starts at 2:00 pm.

July 21-34 – McCloud Lumberjack Fiesta

At this time the date for this event is tentative.  Please check back for any updates or email luvsthrowingaxe@gmail.com.The McCloud Lumberjack Fiesta is a three day event held in McCloud, CA.  There will be a  logging competition, softball and horseshoe tournaments, food, beer, craft and vendor booths and other events celebrating the history of McCloud.  For more information email luvsthrowingaxe@gmail.com.This is not a Fort Crook Historical Society event but Tom Ricker may be there with his horses and one of the museums wagons to help raise money for the museum and the wagon restoration fund.  We can always use help…

April 26-27 Annual Yard Sale

The annual yard sale will be held at the Round Barn from April 26-27.  The sale will be open from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. May 2, 2023 – Museum Opening

The museum will open for the summer on May 2, 2023. Please enjoy your visit to the museum and feel free to ask the curator or docents any questions you have about the exhibits or the history of the area. The Fort Crook Museum will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. until October 31st.

May 26-29 – Shelly Creek Rendezvous

On Memorial Day weekend the Pit River Pioneers host the annual Shelly Creek Rendezvous.  This is a great opportunity to learn about the pre-1840s fur trade era, including black powder shooting, tomahawk & knife throwing and other pioneer skills.This event is a fund raiser for the Historical Society so come out and enjoy the fun and food.Location:Dee Knoch Ranch43877 Dee Knoch RoadFall River Mills, CA 96028Contact the museum for more information.

July 14 & 15 – Fall River Century Bike Ride

The Fort Crook Historical Society earns money by helping support the Fall River Century bike ride.  Join us on Friday to help set up for the rest stops by filling drink coolers with water and energy drink.  On Saturday we clean the drink coolers and ice chests after the ride and put away the tables and chairs after the post ride meal. We will meet at Ingram Hall at the Intermountain Fairgrounds at 3:00pm on Friday and at 4:00pm on Saturday.
