Board Meeting

June 3, 2008

The meeting of the Fort Crook Museum was called to order by President Robert Ingram at 7:15 P.M.  All stood for the flag salute.

Those present were board members John Fenn, Milly Lakey, Tim Glaze, Billie Albaugh, Charles Thomason, Robert Ingram, Betty Stoltenberg and Glorianne Weigand. Also present was Past President Chuck McCulley and curator Dorothy Mason.

The minutes of the last board meeting were read and approved as read.  The minutes of the May 18th annual meeting and were also approved as read.

The Treasurers report was given and we have $79,811.46 in the checking account. Charles made the motion to accept the report and Billy seconded it. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS: Chuck reported that a D7 Caterpillar was donated by Checkers Geissner and hauled to the Museum by Richard Hathaway.  It was put in the front lot of the Museum by the large log.

Pioneer Day is this Saturday and things are coming together.  We have ten craft booths and 3 food booths. We will all need  help on Friday to put the big tent from Parkers up and get some of the canopy’s put up.  The band from the Shingletown Open Door Church will be providing the music, but the local band will not be able to play. Chuck has finally heard from several of the people he has contacted and the Eades family will do the logging, the soldiers will be here the night before and camp out across the road in the trees. Rose Schneider will do the wash tub station again. Milly, Jeannette and Glorianne will take care of the craft booth and Museum store, Betty, John, Robert and Charles will work the food booth. Chuck will do the Blacksmith shop and everyone else will pitch in where needed.

Round Barn report; This Friday at 7 A.M. everyone who can will meet at the Museum with pickups and trailers to go to the Peterson Ranch to pick up the logs that Charles has there and they will be hauled to Billy Cessna’s ranch for him to mill them. Robert has talked to Beatty Assoc. about donating some logs for the barn.

We got a bid for the roof and the materials only will be $35,000.00.

We had a work day on Saturday and there were about twenty people, cleaning yard, planting flowers, hanging the arrowhead collection, and fixing displays in the museum.  We really accomplished a lot.

Tim and Merri Glaze worked in the Library and Merri has it all organized and the books on the shelf and is now cataloging them.  Good job Merri.

John presented the IT Committee Policies.  They have done a great job. He also cancelled out Shasta.com and we will use fortcrookmuseum.com as our new domain name. Everyone read the report and Tim made the motion to accept the IT Policies to date and Milly seconded it.  Motion carried.

Tim reported on the monitor system and he is to go ahead and purchase the door monitors that we voted on at the annual meeting.

We got a bid from Troy Ford of $1900.00 on the yard watering system John made the motion that we go ahead with the bid with a few adjustments and Charles seconded it.  Motion carried. He will get started on it in a few weeks.

The letter folder has arrived.  Katie Clift did an outstanding job on new museum brochures and Lyn Read printed them in color.  Robert folded them on the new letter folder machine and they are ready to be distributed in the community.  We still need many more to fill up the businesses that we need to take them to.

Tim will make a GIFT SHOP sign to hang out front on the big sign.

The wine glasses are finished and we will have them for sale at Pioneer Day for $7.50 each of 4 for $25.00. We will only have Round Barn items such as the T Shirts, Hats, pen holders and wine glasses for sale in the outside craft booth.

The DVD’s that we bought from Tristan Howard are already selling well.

At the July 19th Rummage sale that we will sponsor at the Museum we will have a booth if any members want to donate anything to sell for the museum.

Steve King has offered to do a cowboy poetry program and it was thought that the Harvest Dinner would be a good time to have him do it.

Tim will find people to play the piano at the Glenburn Church recital on July 26th.

A Pampered Chef representative has offer for the Museum to sell Pampered Chef Kitchen Ware from catalogs and we will get 20% for sales up to $600.00 then after that we will get 25%.  A motion was made and seconded that we try this for a money making project.  Motion carried.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 P.M.

Respectively submitted,

Glorianne Weigand, Secretary
